RBI introduces Rs. 200 note – Main highlights, image and dimensions of the new ₹200 note.

New ₹200 notes will be launched by RBI tomorrow, here are the main highlights, image and dimensions of the new note. Since 2015, under the BJP government, all the new notes printed by RBI are accessible by visually challenged. As it seems this initiative is taken by BJP’s Narendra Modi Government since it came to power, we hope that the government makes the whole nation accessible to specially challenged citizens and international travellers.

The Reserve Bank of India in its press release announced 200 denomination bank notes to be launched on 25th August 2017.

  • This news has just come days after introducing new fluorescent blue 50 banknotes
  • This 200 currency notes are part of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signature of Dr. Urjit R. Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India
  • The authorities are taking extra precaution to prevent counterfeiting, and hence new 200 notes will carry advanced security features
  • Like all the new notes printed after 2015, Rs. 200 note too will be Intaglio or with raised printing for users who are visually challenged or blind. One great initiative by the RBI to make the notes accessible to all the users

Main highlights of the new  200 bank notes in the New Mahatma Gandhi Series:

  • Visually a Portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre and Ashoka Pillar emblem with electrotype (200) watermarks are on the right of the new Rs. 200 note. Right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, are Guarantee Clause, Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem
  • Windowed security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI with colour shift. The thread changes from green to blue when the note is tilted also on the bottom right the Rupee Symbol, ₹ 200 is in colour changing ink (green to blue). ‘RBI’, ‘भारत’, ‘India’ and ‘200’ are in Micro letters
  • Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side. It is a visible security feature in the banknotes for the general public to easily distinguish between a genuine and counterfeit note
  • To help visually impaired identify the new Rs 200/- bank note, Intaglio or raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem. H with micro-text ₹ 200, four angular bleed lines with two circles in between the lines both on the right and left sides raised as identification mark.

Main highlights of the new  200 bank notes photo imprint of Sanchi Stupa are as below:

  • Motif of Sanchi Stupa on the reverse side of the note depicts country’s cultural heritage.
  • Year 2017 printed on the left of the note, which will be an important identity as and when more prints of Rs 200 notes will be rolled out in the years to come.
  • Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan logo with slogan to promote its ongoing cleanliness initiative by Government of India.
  • As India has over 20 official languages, the note has an language panel to fit in all the regional languages
  • ₹ २०० printed in Devanagari as it is India’s national writing script
  • The dimensions of this bank note is 66mm x 146mm which is little smaller than the Rs 500 bank note
